Explanatory Answer

Method of solving this CAT Quantitative Ability Question from TIme, Speed, Distance and Work question

Correct Option: A

Solution:

The time in which inlet pipe can fill the tank (x) = 8 hrs

Let the time in which outlet pipe can empty the tank = y

1/x – 1/y = 1/10

y = 40 hrs

Half of the tank will be empty when y=20 hrs
